Where are they from? Essential oils are contained in different locations of the plant itself, for example Rose oil comes from the petals of the flower. Essential oils are also found in bark, seeds, leaves, roots, resin, stems, and fruit.

Distillation? Essential oils are extracted through a variety of processes. The most common being water or steam distillation.

Are they oily? They are not water-soluble for the most part or oily in nature.

Essential oils are volatile, which means they evaporate when exposed to air, thus their use in inhalation and they’re fragrance. They are best added to water, oil, creams, and diffusers.

Essential oils are chemically complex mixtures that can contain hundreds to thousands of different chemical constituents, each of these responsible for different healing properties.

All essential oils are either anti-bacterial, antifungal and/or anti-microbial to varying degrees.

Essential oils are natural chemicals plant medicine that move like peptides throughout the bloodstream of the body and brain and – we speculate – attach to receptors creating chemical conversations for balance and healing.
